With a killer record fresh out of the oven and after touring with some of rocks finest acts (RIVAL SONS (USA) and More Recently Australian Rock Legends Airbourne) Melbourne based blues-rockers, The Ugly Kings are hitting the road and will be appearing at St Ives Hotel, Wodonga this Friday the 4th of May for a night of mega mayhem. We caught up with the lads to ask them some super cheesy questions ahead of their highly anticipated show.

The Ugly Kings Melbourne We like playing powerful blues rock. How long have you been playing together? Chris and Russell 6 years Chris, Nick and Russell 3 years Chris, Nick, Russell and Andy 1 year
Who plays what instrument?
How did The Ugly Kings come to be? What made you guys wanna get up on stage?
It started when Chris and Russell met in 2007 on a film shoot, briefly chatted but never exchanged details and didn’t see each other again until randomly in 2010. They then had a chat about music and started jamming and the rest is kinda history. We all get on stage for different reasons really but together it’s just cause we love playing music and there is nothing like playing to a crowd.
Describe your sound?
The sound came from a compromise in musical taste between Russell’s love of blues and Christos love of heavy rock and metal.
When penning down tunes, what comes first, the music or the lyrics?
Where was your first gig? how did it go down?
First gig electric was a battle of the bands at revolver upstairs and we got to the final so it went well.
Which band’s do you guys listen to? Do you listen any local Albury / Wodonga bands? We all have very different music tastes. But we love the boys from Idle Fret, Beggarman and POZER! What can punters expect if they were to attend an Ugly Kings show?
Lots of energy and lots of noise.
