10 songs with Snug Pugs

We asked Albury punks, SNUG PUGS, which 10 songs have influenced them:

1. “Red Light Green” – Dune Rats

“This was the first song Felix showed to Kodie and Mack, they thought  it was sick. In the video clip Dune Rats just smoke bongs to the song. From this point the band started bonding over music.”

2. “Teenage Dirtbag” – Wheatus

“During high school we had to do a group project for our extension music class and we had never played as a group before. We had spent the year before just piss farting around and smoking in the store room. So we thought yeah we can do a song, so we did a really shitty cover of teenage dirtbag to take the piss.”

3. “All The Small Things” – Blink-182

“After we had jammed a bit more outside of school this was the first song we covered seriously and we still play it today. Blink-182 is one of the biggest reasons why we started playing as a band…..   even though they’re shit today.”

4. “Covered in Chrome” –  Violent Soho

“This song and Dope Calypso by Violent Soho were both big influences to the heavy side of our music. We still haven’t learned any Soho songs but we still pump them heaps.”

5. “Never Had So Much Fun” – Frenzal Rhomb

“This song and band has heavily influenced the faster and more not serious side to our music. And has had a big effect on our new EP The D-Sides.”

6. “I’m Broken” – Pantera

“This was one of the first heavier songs I ever listened to when I was 11, and I knew this was the style of music I wanted to play. From there I branched to more genres like punk.” – Kodie

7. “Windowpane” – Opeth

“Deliverence and Damnation were 2 albums recorded at the same time by Opeth, but one is like death metal and one is progressive. Windopane opened my eyes to other genres out side of all the gnarly shit I was listening to at the time. Damnation remains one of my favourite albums of all time.” – Mack

8. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” – Nirvana

“This was the first heavy rock riff I ever learned on guitar and it changed my playing from that point on. I used to jam this song with Ciqala from Pablo Pace.” – Felix

9. “Carousel” – Blink-182

“After we jammed A LOT more, Carousel became a fat dooz banger for the boys to thrash out on a satdy. It influenced the faster side of Snug Pugs.”

10. “Backstage Passport” – NOFX

“Just watch it, it’s good and it’s the dream.”

AND Here’s the SNUG PUGs very own tune: “It’s Summer”
